Our Philosophy of Care

We have a difference and our patients feel it with care.

There's a noticeable difference in our care. Hospice programs are the 'shining star' of the health care community. However, providing hospice and palliative care services can vary as much as hospitals, physicians, and other professional services. Our programs go beyond the standards of certification to provide exemplary care from our staff and unique programs to support the varying needs of patients, caregivers and families. The best choice is to choose a Medicare-certified and licensed hospice and palliative care program for the comprehensive benefits that are offered.

Complementing our integrative Valor PatientCareTM program, our "Philosophy of Care" focuses on going beyond the standards to provide specialized programs tailored to the individual needs of our patients and their loved ones. From special care programs for many diagnosis, to cultural programs, we are here to serve the special needs of every patient.

Specialized Cultural and Religious Programs

Jewish Faith

Our Jewish Program respects the dignity of life, and provides services that are rooted in an understanding and appreciation of Judaism and Jewish life. Our professional team has been educated in the religious traditions and culture of Judaism and the Jewish people. As the only hospice in Arizona owned by a member of the Jewish faith, familiarity with the unique needs and concerns of Jewish patients and their familes, ensures that we are appreciative of the diversity of Jewish expression within the community.

Hispanic and Latino

Hispanics and Latinos are less likely to use hospice than many other groups, although there is evidence that their need for services may actually be greater. Valor HospiceCare provides special programs for the Hispanic and Latino populations, with many educational services to support hospice eligibility, care provisions, cultural sensitivities and bereavement/grief counseling. Many of our clinicians, including Physicians and Nurse Pracitioners, speak Spanish and come from the heritage.

Specialized Acute and Post Acute Patient Homes and Facilities Programs

Specialized Clinical Programs

Pulse - Cardiac (including CHF)

Our special program for heart conditions, including congestive heart failure (CHF) is provided by specially trained clinicians. Because CHF is one of the top three hospice diagnoses, we have partnered with area heart physicians. By combining special weight, dietary and medication methods we can help ensure the highest quality of care, and reduce unwanted hospital admissions.

DementiaCare - Dementia (including Alzheimers)

Valor HospiceCare's dementia program is provided for patients and their caregivers. Dementia is the fifth-leading cause of death in the U.S. among 65 and older, and presents very special challenges to providers. Many patients on hospice also have a degree of dementia, in addition to their other life-limiting diagnosis. Our special dementia program uses innovative methods by highly trained clinicians to ensure exemplary patient care and quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

Respire - Respiratory (including COPD)

Our special program provides expert disease management allowing those with respiratory disease to maximize functioning. COPD is one of the top three hospice diagnoses and we have partnered with area pulmonary physicians to address the special needs of patients with these diseases, and to reduce unwanted hospital admissions.

Wound/Ostomy Care

Valor HospiceCare's wound and ostomy program provides clinical and consultative services to patients and their caregivers in their homes. This service is provided by a certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse, or a nurse who is extensively trained in specialty wound care. A plan of care is provided for patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis or drainage, including skin breakdown and acute/chronic wounds.
